How can you use photography and video?

Introduction.

How can you use photography and video in your own marketing, be effective and gain tangible results? Is AI a threat to marketeers?

Recently I was invited onto the podcast show of Steve Pailthorpe and Iconic Digital?

The Podcast.

You can listen to the podcast by pressing the play button on the following player.

Perception.

I will be expanding this topic and how our perception is influenced by our experience, but, through exposure to a different reality our experience can change and be founded in a new, or expanded reality, at a forthcoming conference with María Scheibengraf of Crisol Translation.

In this short blog I offer you some visual examples as to how a change can be brought about.

Perception – Part I.

In this image, which I have posted before, one can see Lloyds of London on the left of the image, which is also reflected in the glass of the building opposite.

The perception is that this was shot in the day, against a reasonably blue sky.

Imagine for a moment, that you know nothing about London.

You have not seen the Lloyds of London building.

Are you ready?

Perception – Part II.

We move onto a second image of the same building, shot from the same angle.

However, I have created a thundery sky.

What emotions does this image evoke in you now compared to the first one?

Is the impact more aggressive to the first image?

Perception – Part III.

Again, this is the same base image, but, the galaxy is now prevalent in the sky.

If one knows this building in London and where it is positioned, this type of sky is never seen, but, in another world, another universe, even in another city, this may be possible.

Again, when considering how you use photography and video in your own marketing, you can be effective and gain tangible results.

These images illustrate that when one understands knowledge and emotions, visual media can be tailored to prompt certain responses.

Let’s move to the final image.

Perception – Part IV

When folk ask me whether I had good weather on holiday, I try to remember by answering in the positive.

Personally, I enjoy the variation of the seasons in the U.K.

I prefer wind, rain and snow to the blazing sun.

Perhaps this is my Celtic and Scandinavian ancestry coming to the fore?

How can you use photography and video in your own marketing, be effective and gain tangible results?

This was the primary question of this blog and I gave some of the answers in the podcast, with Steve Pailthorpe.

In this final image, we move from the thunder and darkness and move to the sunset (or sunrise).

Whether you relate to the start or the end of a day will depend upon various factors within your own life experience.

Being Technical.

The Smartphone device has created a democracy and accessibility to imagery.

However, such a modern device has not (yet) negated the need for experience and creativity, and skill.

I covered this in the podcast at the head of this blog.

Shooting this building was challenging to my creative juices, but, the image reflects the nature of this architecture.

Likewise, within business, there are occasions when your own mobile device will suffice, but, on other occasions a professional is required to produce the images that will create a lasting impression, and gain traction for you and your business.
